Hi Andy,

1,2,3 is ok as long as your paint process can withstand pressure washing as you will need to thoroughly clean the block once it comes back from the machining workshop.

Personally I would avoid getting paint on machined gasket/mating surfaces if possible, even if they are being machined later. especially areas like the main cap seats for example.

Best way to do this is with a pressure washer and some long brushes to make sure all the oil gallerys are clear of debris. After washing use compressed air to dry everything out.

It might be prudent to get you machine shop to install the new cam bearings if required, unless you have tool to do this.

PS If is being decked don't forget to get new cylinder head dowels installed as well.
