Thanks guys. I took a look in Laban's book on Cobras last night and I can see that the later original cars in fact used the L691/2 type rear lights and which look fine on the car - maybe put conversion to these on teh winter list - thanks for the sketch with dimensions by the way.
I may just also try the brighter bulbs at least for now.
