The 3.31 goes nicely witha 5 speeder, but it would be useful to know exactly what gearbox you have before commenting further?
If it is a tremec 3550 TKO, many will tell you that with a 3.31 or above, 1st runs out too damn fast, and 5th is still too tall for really pulling hard (but makes a nice motorway gear) - unless it is the version (sometimes known as the road race version) with the less tall 0.8 something 5th.
I personally find the low first useful for driving in traffic - it will take off at tickover and no throttle no problem. But for really fast starts it is pretty useless.
