In general, the best setup as I understand it for British roads (i.e. lumpy and potholed) is "softly sprung, strongly damped".

Getting the ride heights set up front/back, to aim for 50:50 balance if possible might help.

A good pair of tyres will also do wonders.

Some driving lessons are another good investment. Not taking the p*ss, but knowing how to alter the balance of the car to acheive tail-out happiness is quite a fine art in itself and something I'll be looking to do when I finish.
