Hi there when you say they need more packing is it because they are too noisey? because if you put too much packing in they will in fact get louder as there is a fine line between the right amount and over packing i.e. the more dense the packing the less sound deadening.
But if you do require packing you could try Dax and convert over to something like the fibre packing they use
