What should it be then Mike?
Reason for selling is quite simple as I said in the advert, it's not fast enough for me. Make no mistake, for the price I am looking for you certainly couldn't build it. I know to my cost what this engine took to put together.
I took views when I decided to go down this route and at the time opinion seemed to be that a nice 350bhp motor would be enough, it's not for me. It could be that the unit will really wake up when it has been tuned properly, the carb hasn't been set up and it does look rich on the left bank so I know there is more to come. The big mistake I made was not taking a test drive or going for a ride in one before my own.
As you will probably have seen in other threads, the gearbox went last week. Buying the kit in the UK is costly but if I get a fair price for the engine I am going to stump up for an Engine + Gearbox that I have seen at a reasonable price.
It really is an honest offer,
A cut out will cost circa £425, I paid £500
The bill for all the initial engine parts was in the region of £1800, I have been looking for the original receipt as I seem to remember this being in excess of £2300 but I do not want to exaggerate costs
Added later were I Beams and all the dress up stuff circa £500
Engineering costs circa £600
Adaptor plate was £120-150 from memory
Clutch was £180 ish, could have been more
I paid £350 for the Getrag and £175 for the ropey bellhousing
Added later still was an uprated HEI, £160
Jegs throttle return thing from one of the guys on the site was £25 if I remember rightly. I bought the 8mm spark leads later, I think they were £50 or £60
And this doesn't even scratch the running around to do all this. The engine has only just covered 500 miles. If you are really saying that its not worth even 3K then I will keep it.
At the moment as I said in the post to get over 400bhp is going to take serious money and on top of that I need the new gearbox. A bulk buy from the States is starting to look attractive if I can get a reasonable offer on the existing engine that for all intents and purposes is virtually new.
All input is welcome and I won't be offended.
Cheers
