One thing your engine will be missing that a pro built one does have is a warranty. For me getting an engine built by someone that garanteed their work was vital. I think most people who buy engines in a turn-key state do it because they don't have the knowledge to build or repair their own and are prepared to pay the extra for piece of mind. I got mine from a pro builder with full garantee. I'm sure your engine is built perfectly, but to pay 3k for something that could go bang in its first turn with no warrantee is a risk that drops the value. If you garantee your engine for a period of time or mileage you're entering an area that I doubt you'd want to get into as a privateer.
