DVLA & Registration

Hi Folks,
DVA & Registration (Or should it be Frustration!)
Wanted to register my car today after a long wait so on copmpleting my V55 & Built Up Inspection report telephoned my local office (Dundee) using the phone number in the V355 booklet (Guidance Notes For Completion Of V55 Forms) to book an appointment, only to find out that the number listed does not accept incoming calls! So I then looked up the number in the local Phone Book and dialled it only to be greeted by some lad with a Welsh accent, who informed me that I was now speaking to Swansea, and I cannot contact my local office directly but if I wanted he would fax Dundee and get them to call me within the next two hours! As this was the only option I reluctantly agreed.
After about an hour & a half the phone rung and I was greeted by a pleasant sounding woman who informed me that I would have to come in with the relavent forms and an appointment would be made for me. So getting all the paperwork, recceipts, donor vehicle V5, MAC Certificate, insurance cert. etc. I high tailed it to Dundee thinking that this is finally it, after 18 months of hard graft, sleepless nights and much problem solving I was finally at the end of the tunnel! How wrong I was! After checking all the paperwork which was Ok, and the relavent donor parts were noted I was told that as I am looking for an age related plate I would need to have the car inspected. (This I knew from an earlier visit to collect the appropriate forms and had been told the waiting time was at most two days.)
Thinking I would have my car inspected and a registration allocated in the next few days, I started dreaming of long sunny drives through the Highlands and Glens this weekend! :drive: Wrong! I have now been informed that the only person capable of inspecting the car is "On leave" at least until next week and may be off for a further week! By which time my temp cover note will have expired & Flux have advised me they can't extend the cover without a registration number!
Oh well I've waited this long, another week won't make much difference, will it?
Clive.
