Someone who knows more about the subject than I might comment, but I can't see how just clicking on a link can result in spam to your email address, unless the link was embedded in an email to you in the first place, and you were probably using Outlook as your email program.
My comment presupposes a working firewall on your machine. For someone to download software onto your machine that returns your email address to them is a little far-fetched? Your machine would have to be wide open from a security perspective, to enable that scenario, surely.
Any experts care to comment?
