Just to add fuel to the fire get someone to take you out in a SR and then another replicar. If you are on a road that is not perfectly smooth you will notice movement in opposite directions between the trans tunnel and the dash in most. The SR stays put without flex when driven.
That's not to say it's the best because all of the chassis have their own characteristics and are equaly if not better at other atributes.
As far as I'm aware the SR is the only replicar with side impact bars under the rear arches.
As Den says Madgewick have made a few improvements in their eyes, and without a doubt the SR has stood the test of time and I believe it's only because of the ownership of the company being changed that it got a bit lost in the late 90's.
It's got a solid home now.
I am totaly biased of course and the only reason I bought mine was 'cos it drove better than all the other makes of car I had been in.
When buying a car just remember that it's all about build quality, there are some ropey examples of all makes out there.
