It may be a little early to be thinking about my next project as the AK & 392ci Windsor are no where near completion however I have been thinking about what would be involved in recreating an original Cobra 427ci engine? I appreciate modern builds or strokers of similair displacement with modern heads would out perform an original spec 427 but out & out performance would not be my goal as the build remit priority would be authenticity.

Any info greatly appreciated,

Were building 351W/408cid (target) 450+BHP 480+ ft lbs torque stroker engine for AK in UK... going to dyno then cross the pond..... this combonation is the most bang for the pound bar none.. my opinion.

Cross the pond i bulild mostly Ford FE 410 & 428 CJ & SCJ & 427 CO & SO
engines for Cobras this side the pond.. your best bang for the dollar here with the BB is the Ford 410 FE engine YES the 410FE is a Ford/ Mercery engine HI-PO built in the mid to late 60's and developes 500+BHP easly on a budget..
Quick skinny:
1- Ford BB # C6ME-A, block with 4.050 bore , crank IU or IUB 428 CJ with 3.98 stroke ,Rods 428 CJ # C7AE-B , pistons use Probe forged readly avaliable... heads use Ed 's RPM ally
The Ford BB FE engines can be very pricey to buy... eg: 428CJ & SCJ & 427 SO or SOHC engines
HUGE DOSH.. and beware... centre oiler 427FE/cheap to buy engines and are being sold as side oiler engines its an old game here cross the pond...mention side oiler 427 and it adds 4,000 to 5,000+ $ to the cost of the engine your buying..... the trick find a 427 CO or marine 427 CO or Industrial 427 CO... strip it go to machine shop have them rifle drill side oil gallerys & block CO galleries in side the block..bata boom side oiler 427 block done right you'd have to be very sharp to tell it was a converted 427CO engine.

Anyway just a heads up......
My 2 cents / pence..cheers! Dr,Dee
