Sounds like you have them in the right place.
I have the same seats and the back is about an inch from the bulkhead and touches the wheel arch and the inner chassis rails. I guess Richfield use a bit more padding on the back of their seats.
It was fine for me as I am fairly short so I can still reach the pedals with the seat right back.
