The Idea of a swirl tank is OK but according to my knowledge, you need always separate the inlet from the outlet port to reduce turbulent movements at the area.
So some adjustment to the drawings showed at the site will help to solve the problem.
I have made a fast drawing so that you can understand what I mean.
I put there and in-pigment tube with a hole at the opposite side of the inlet port.
The hole should have the same or more surface as the outlet port.
