Breakfast club bath!

With high hopes of a little bit of liberty from the family I set of to Goodwood, all five miles of journey. It rained, it poured, in fact it bl**dy well p****d down and arrived to be parked up in a compound with two Healey 3000's and then three AC mk1V's joined me later. I walked around the packed carpark/internal track area to be met with a vast arrange of machinery, including a handfull of Cobra replicas. Despite the weather it was a packed event.

The down side was that I couldn't re-start my Ram Cobra, it just wouldn't fire. Assuming a previous fuelling problem had reappeared I waited in the rain for the car to cool down a little more. I got totally drenched for an hour looking at cars passing me going home, to destinations further than my measly five miles. I returned to the car and still no joy, only this time a gentleman appeared with a video camera, just in case flames came out the exhaust when it fired up.... it didn't and he stayed for another hour!!

I then started to remove the plugs as the car was flooded internally with fuel and externally with water, only this time I heard from the passing roar of engines High I'm Alan (aka Conrod) from Thames Valley. What a cheerful man despite the grotty weather and his journey to Goodwood. He got as far as the paddock that I was in and that was that, we talked as I tried in vain to start the car before we decided to tow start it. He duly returned with his tin top and we towed my Cobra around the carpark atleast five times, each time it started and then stalled. Alan decided enough was enough of going around in circles and he duly towed me back home, for which I owe him a huge thankyou. He didn't get to see much of the breakfast club visitors, as he'd spent a while with me and the cafe was closed when he went for coffee as well. Nevertheless he remained cheerful and we enjoyed a warm cuppa at my house before he returned to Thames Valley.

To conclude, s**t weather, a great event and even better a chance meeting between two strangers with a common interest who resolved a soggy problem. I had water in the distributor (MSD's don't like wet weather).

Thanks Conrod and yes I saw Rat boy drive in and out, as well as Trevor leaving. I only wished I left at the same time as they did.

Here's to next year!
