if the clutch pedal is based on Sierra or Granada there will be a ratchet at the top of the pedal above the pivot and this adjusts the clutch automatically I vaguely remember other posts on the forum debating different length Ford cables and different cam adjusters giving a different height to the clutch bite. perhaps the cable was ok last year but where the clutch has worn it has highlighted the cable being wrong length. they do not normally stretch as such
