Brian V8 BJC took his car recently and although the car qualified as a new vehicle in 2003 when I built it and it was registered I believe that his emissions only had to be either visual, 4.5 or 3.5. The last two years have been a royal pain in the ar5e.
Year 1 - Spent two hours (+ a couple of calls to Dave) trying to convince the tester that my car did not need cats on the exhaust. In the end, the guy 'doctored' the computer and stated that it was all madness and cars that looked as good as this should be allowed on UK roads.
Year 2 - Tried 5 places before finding someone willing to test it. All worried about the computer accepting it. Another conversation re cats but only 15 mins this time. Another 20 minutes discussing noise before the guy kindly boted my fog lamp back on in order to pass it.
Its a good job I love it, otherwise I might not bother.
