| I suffered the same problem for a long time. I've dabbled with computers, websites, net works etc and spent a lot of time trying to work out why.
I read a post on the internet regarding DNS problems with ISP's which occasionally accounted for certain websites being down. i.e. the ISP's DNS severs dropped out or were not up to date.
I've manually entered DNS settings for a free dns service on my laptop i.e. not using my ISP's, and I've had no problems since.
For clarification, total kitcar and GD owners were frequently down, since making the changes I've never had a problem and I'm probably on the GD owners site several times a day.
If anyones interested I'll post my DNS settings.
