| When I had my old RV8 & LT77 I had a similar problem, in the end I changed the gear stick to one that looked original but was actually functional so you had to lift the bar to be able to get it in reverse, and that solved the problem. Can post some pictures of what I did if you want, think I have some somewhere. HTH
