I need a bit of advice regarding the engine mounts for my SBC.

Some standard mounts were supplied with my engine but they didn't fit the fixings on the chassis. I was advised to get some expensive Competition mounts from Real steel this I did.
I have the correct ones but the welds on the underside of the mount foul the flat plates welded to the chassis and prevent the 4" bolt from fitting through the piece of tube (also welded to the chassis). I have milled away a bit of the weld on the mount but to make the mount fit so it sits properly on the flat plate on the chassis I will have to file the sides away. Has anyone else had this problem and did they file a bit of the flat plate on the chassis. If I don't do this the mount will be sitting on the uneven welds and then I would have to file out the Fixing hole in the mount... Why is nothing simple????
