I believe you can get much cheaper units which will keep a battery up. I think mine was in the order of £18. It only puts a nice smooth trickle in to keep a battery up, or charges it real slow, but thats fine as long as you use it whenever you are parked up. I'm keeping a couple of un-connected batteries in useable condition out of the car using this for several years now.
