| Right, my starter is a McLeod and it has 3 terminals, 2 large screw posts and a spade post.
The is a loop wire that comes from inside the starter and that connects to the innermost screw post (I assume that one is already connected). The battery lead connects to the outermost post and the lead from the ignition switch connects to the spade connector.
I have another (red) wire that connects to the same post as the battery lead, but I assume this is the live feed for everything else e.g. lights, instruments etc.
