| I'm not sure any of the above really explains why it would go to the floor the first time and then bite firmly though, and then do the same again next time you use the brakes.
It sounds almost as if fluid is being removed from the system whilst the brakes are not being used and requires pumping to get the additional fluid into the master before the brakes bite. That in turn sounds like there might be air in the system otherwise it wouldn't happen as all that would be sucked back would be fluid unless a vacuum is being created in the system somewhere.
