"Crendon Curry" - hehe- did someone call?
Welcome Mac. You need to decide just what you want from your Cobra - is it authenticity, speed, bling etc. All of these and far more can be catered for within the range of UK kit manufacturers.
Also, if it is not too private to you, knowing your budget will help us point you in the right direction. As you probably already realise, there are kits at differing price points, and something of a pecking order to go along with that, culminating in full-on aluminium bodied replicas with "original" engines at £65k+. I have also seen very well put together cars for under a quarter of that. The quality of build can transcend the cars' origins in some cases.
Ignore the AK mafia

, especially the ones currently suffering from the sleep deprivation exercise known as "breeding"

- there are lots of other choices. I am in the Rothely/Mountsorrel area - same general area as Tinka, if you ever want to pop down for a general chat about the "scene" whilst poking around my own car you are welcome. These days I have learned not to be partisan, although of course the Crendon is best.
The only thing I would counsel against initially is to rush off and buy a pre-built car from a dealer - too much margin for them! Otherwise, there is no objectively right or wrong thing to do, it is a very subjective matter.
