Just go for it and of off course you can. I will be building one shortly after going through various options of buying secondhand, rolling chasis or a turn key. I decided to build my own in the end, due to the fact I can have exactly what and the satisfaction I will get will be immense.
My budget is around 22k, hoping to do it for less but it might be more. I am starting from scratch with xj6 axles that are stripped and well on the way to be being fully reconditioned. The cost of getting the axles upto scratch will be around £1000 inc the cost of the axles.
Regards books etc. Kit car is great, there is DVD with Mark Evans buiding a Sumo, but the best place is here. The site has been good to me and the folk here are a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help.
