Unless you are using the track, you do not need the grooved disks by any stretch of the imagination. However if money no object, no reason why not either. EBC green stuff is great. You dont think so at first until they have bedded in, but then boy are they good. You dont get the black crap either, just brownish stuff, but a lot less of it.
