| RE: AK I have ordered an AK kit for delivery at the end of April. The best way of explaing why is to visit the factory, [they moved today! new number 01733 267633] and speak to Ken, Dan and Jon.
They are one-off guys and will really impress you with their open approach, and their cars are spot on, real cobras, a quality product. Value for money, there's nothing comes close in my opinion. The doors and bonnet come pre-hung, and the body is temporarily fitted to the chassis. Sure, not all parts are single donor, buts that's part of the fun.
You are directed for all other bits to individual suppliers thus cutting down on cost ( and many other kit manufacturer's parts will fit, e.g. Pilgrim!). My build budget including a rebuilt 302 ford V8 is circa £16.5K and I reckon I won't be far off. That's pretty good for a top spec car.
I think it would be a crying shame not to go for a V8 in your car, even for every day use. A bog standard Rover will be relatively economical to run and is likely to be more maintenance-free so very practical.
Starter kit is excellent with AK , too numerous to mention here, just send for the brochure.
Best of luck with your selection.
