I run the same configuration in a Euro.
Do you have a carb spacer installed? - I don't.
For reference, the top of the air filter studding is 6 inches from the manifold mounting face of the carb.
Air filter is a 3" element, the housing is dished on the underside for clearance.
Tunnel/body gap sounds about right at 10mm.
