Hi Iain, have no idea how you go about in France but I have registerd my UK built Cobra replica in bothe Germany and now in Japan. In both countries it was very important that the original donor date was recognised (1973 in my case) even though my car Unique Autocraft Python was properly registered in teh UK in 1998. I also used local specilists (at a price) who had experince in the local equivalents of the MOT/SVA regulations. Try to get in touch with an organisation who has expereince of importing cars to France.

I doubt you will be able to get a UK insurance company to give you loing term cover in France. Itried the same initially in Germany but without success.
