I recently re-registered and was given a "member from 24-7-01" and asked if I was entitled to charter membership status.I now have "member since 24-08-01".Whats happened to me?

RE: Membership

Charter membership is because the forum software cannot recognise user registration from before it was installed.

I am working on a hack to change it to something more defined.

Registering afterwards gives it a timestamp.

Right, worked it out and found out why. Perl does the months 0 based, 0-11 so therefore when you re-registered, the forum didn't add the 1 to the month, hence the 24/7/01 based on the timestamp of your user profile. The released version calculated the month properly based on the time stamp of you user profile and adds 1 to get the correct month, hence when I installed the release version, the date change.

Member Since only works for people who sign up AFTER the upgrade - existing users all get 'Charter Member'. Before the upgrade, the forum didn't track registration dates, so it can't provide a date for existing users.

I don't think there is much I can do about this

Sorry

You need to change your preferences in your profile, I had to change it.

Give me a call on the number in the mag if you have any problems.
