Power Steering

I have been fitting the AK supplied power steering today. I have come to something i cannot figure out... I could ask the factory but they are on xmas vacation so thought I should ask here..!!!

The rack has gone on fine..!!!

The pump has what appears to be 2 brackets... One with a 4" bolt in it already and one with a bracket with a small S Bend in it....

I cannot figure out where it should mount on my 350 chevy...!!!

So, does anyone have a description they could help me with or even better a photo for me to copy??

Cheers

Carl..

Re: Power Steering

What a star you are..!!!

I do not yet have a double belted bottom pulley, but I was imagining that this power steering belt was ahead of the normal belt..!!! Now that I saw o your photo that the whole unit was a lot closer to the engine...

I just went to try fit it and now I see, the top bolt which is supplied by AK actually goes through a hole in the Water Pump.... But....

That hole is threaded and too small for this bolt, so it looks like I will have to drill it bigger to take this 4" bolt.. Did you have to drill yours out??

Cheers for the quick reply..!!!

Carl..

Re: Power Steering

Carl

I didn't fit mine, I had it fitted by AK last year so I can't help you with that one, I'm sure AK will be back in work tomorrow, give them a ring. :thumb: :thumb:

P.S before you drill anything remove the bottom bolt from the water pump and make sure the 4" bolt is the same thread as the original

Re: Power Steering

I know what you mean... There is not a bolt in there... it is just a hole... and it is threaded UNC.... The bolt supplied by AK is Metric.... But from what I can tell as this bolt only has threads on the 1" from the end... the remainder of the bolt is threadless... so indicating it is the part that is the pivot for the adjustment..!!
