Re: front shocks and pwr/stng

I am just building my AK and with the spings and wish-bones on full drop I can still get my track rod end down by 1/2 inch. below the steering arm.

Cheers,

Re: front shocks and pwr/stng

the springs are wound down as far as they will go before touching the adjustment knob (so quite low) also i did have to compress the springs when fitting to the lower wish bone. when initially building up the front suspension i put the shocks on last so i already know that with no shocks and just the steering arm/balljoint attached it doesnt want ot go as far as the shocks are pushing it.

curiously how long are anyone else's front shocks? mine are measuring 13.25" eye to eye.

Re: front shocks and pwr/stng

Tony D,
I have got the Muscle power rack.

With my shocks bolted on and the bottom spring seat right down mine measure 13" eye to eye.

Re: front shocks and pwr/stng

In the AK manual if is suggested that all the camber shims etc are adjusted with the wishbones level or slightly drooped. Can anyone with a built AK tell me what inclination the wishbones are at when you have the car adjusted to the right ride height? I appreciate it might need a bit of jacking up to get through the SVA but I'm talking about once through.

Cheers

Re: front shocks and pwr/stng

At normal AK recommended ride height the wishbones are horizontal near as dammit.

You will have to wind up the spring platforms to get the 350mm height for front indicators so dont be surprised if you end up taking two inches or more of travel out of the spring. the front gets very bouncy at this stage so take it easy on the way to the SVA test !!

Cheers,
