AK door locks

Hi all ,
I am at the stage of fitting my door locks . Can you tell me what you used as a spacer between the wedge and the mounting plate that is bonded to the body?

Re: AK door locks

I used washers to begin with and then once it was all sorted I cut a small piece of stainless pipe the same thickness as the washers and fixed that in with some Gel cote so it was a permanent thing that would not move in the future. Hope this makes sense

Re: AK door locks

Ditto to Tinka's post Although I didn't have the luxury of prebonded plates Edited to add. This is THE WORST JOB of the entire build!! Once done it is all downhill from there in

neither did I but it is a great improvement over what I did. I have now bonded in some plates and OH boy it makes things easier. It is amazing how many little jobs you put off until you have to get them done for one reason or another.

Re: AK door locks

I fired the engine for the first time last week {406 cu Ford} but I could not select a gear , someone sujested a tight pilot bearing so up on axle stands again and started it in gear then clutch and all seems well, even went up and down the drive nervously !
