AK Heater

Hi Chaps

Before I start cutting a hole to mount the Polo heater, any advice on measurements from tunnel to bottom of heater. I've read in a previous thread that the heater is very close to the bell housing (Chevy)

Any advice welcome

Thanks
Carl

Carl

A picture speaks a thousand words, this is not my car, but a picture taken at AK's workshop.

It appears that the heater is mounted very close to the tunnel and across to the drivers side.

Thanks for your help

Carl.

Mike did you ask why it wasn't centred?
no mention of this in the manual
however they do advise now not to cut away the sloping front from the heater unit

No I didn't ask why, I just did as Ken told me, Its more than likely to get the heater away from the top of the bellhousing.

Mine is off centre, but not as much as the one in the photo.

Just been out to check and there is a plastic bit on the bottom of the heater, if you fitted it central this bit would be very close to the top of the bellhousing, so you will have to fit it offset, but not as much as is shown in the picture.

P.S

I see you have fitted yours offset.

I fitted mine central, and it fitted OK to the standard Ford bellhousing,

There was also a thread a while back on getting it in up-side-down...
Carl make sure the outlets are on the RHS looking from the front of the car, into the engine bay
