Blast Radiator leaks

Filled with water today for the first time and water pi**es out where I put the ties through to hold the fan.

Two questions does anyone know if I can get it out without lifting the body ? must be yes but looks tight,

Hi David

Probably not what you want to hear but I don't use the tie type fan fixings for this reason. Also I think the amount of weight and force a fan produces is asking a lot for a radiator core to support. I made stainless support brackets for my fan and supported it from the top and bottom radiator mountings.

Guildford radiators are very good and are located in Cranleigh. Only half hour drive from Horsham. They have done about 5 radiators for me now (for my other vehicles, Not the Dax!)

They can repair and re-core radiators but if yours is damaged in the centre it will probably need a whole new core so check the price of repairing against the cost of a new one.

Craig.

That's a bummer It'll come out if you remove the top and bottom brackets.

David.

It is ok. to do it from below. Make sure you get it up high on axle stands and if posible get someone to give you a hand as it`s bloody awkward on your own Beleive me I speak from experience
20 mins to get it out and `bout the same to put it back in

Tony.

Thanks chaps
I have spoken to the Guild ford people , very helpful and I will drop it in there next week.

I will remove it tomorrow and make brackets to hold the fan next time

all part of this enjoyable and relaxing leisure activity

Iknow someone who had this very problem - leaks caued by the cable ties sawing through the matrix. He had his repaired and tubes fixed through the matrix to take the cable ties. Don't think he's had a problem since.

If you have taken the weight and pull of the fan on brackets, how close is the fan now to the matrix? If there is a gap have you bothered to seal it to get best air flow though the matrix? If up against it, are you not concerned that the two will vibrate against each other? Any pictures of your bracketry etc?
Cheers

My raditor cam out through the nose of the car.

Re your cable ties through the raditor core, did you use the suppiled rubber tubing?? The cable tie goes through the the plastic tubing to stop cutting it's way through the raditor matrix.
