Hi Jeff,

A lot depends on what final drive ratio you require, which will in turn depend on the engine and gearbox combination you want to fit. Both an XJS or a Series Three XJ can provide the running gear, the trick is to get the car with the right rear axle ratio.

If I was you I'd look for a 3.6 Litre manual XJS, as this has argueably the most useful powerlok 3.54 diff as standard, a Getrang manual box that will mate very happily to a 350 Chevy using an AK adaptor plate, and you can also use the handbrake.

Most automatic V12 jags have high diff ratios ( 2.88/ 3.0) only suitable for four speed manual or three speed autos so try to avoid them.

Totally avoid the XJ40 range as they have nothing that will fit the AK kit.

Cheers,

Tony

I have been looking for a 3.6 XJS manual, but there seems to be a better supply of XJ6's. What would be the best model to go for in the XJ6? I intend to use a Chevy V8 in my build. Just sourcing a few bits at the moment.

thanks
