Cool Steering Wheel locking nut

Replacing my AK steering wheel following respray, I was alarmed by the small amount of thread which holds the wheel in place. Is this normal, or do I have to look further down the column for extra clearance? Not mechanical, so I may be worrying unduly. Any help appreciated, thanks.
