You could always use the car more often!
I believe you can get much cheaper units which will keep a battery up. I think mine was in the order of £18. It only puts a nice smooth trickle in to keep a battery up, or charges it real slow, but thats fine as long as you use it whenever you are parked up. I'm keeping a couple of un-connected batteries in useable condition out of the car using this for several years now.

If you think its been standing for 6 mths below 11v then forget it. You might bring it back a bit but it will not be reliable.
As has been suggested, buy a new battery, get a conditioner and disconnect it from the car when its not in use. Even in open terminal state it will loose about 4-6% SOC (state of charge) per month of storage. Once the battery reaches 75% SOC or about 12.4v it is discharged sufficiently to require recharging, so keeping it on a conditioner or checking it regularly and completing a normal charge is better than trying to recover it once sulphation has started.
