What A Difference A Day Makes!!!!

Hi All,

picked up my car last weekend, spent the week staring at it and finally got the courage to start it last saturday! By Sunday it was rolling. So glad I chose the silver powder coat. Check out the TRIGOS but there is a bit of work to do, I will be shortening the drive shafts and lower wishbones by another 30mm to tuck the rears under. Once I have measured the triangulation of upper shock mount, existing lower shock mount and lower diff pivot I will shorten the shafts and move the lower shock mount tube back into it original triangulation measurements, the fronts will be courtesy of Simon Finley's hubs. A bit of work but I will get the original look. I also have 2 original style 1.5 diam roll bars with rear stay, home made for £55, one chromed and one black powder coated.

any questions please ask, but any advice is always welcome,

Thanks Lee

Hi Simon - sorry for the spelling, Finlay it should be! I am running Kumho's on the rear and a Kumho copy on the front, both V rated and directional. They both get 5/5 stars for dry use from the german TUV rating score and v rating gives me the peace of mind when I get to the Nurburgring! 'cos I did not realise the aspect ration of 60 being a percentage I should have gone for the 245's on the rear maybe not the 255's or 65' on the front but I can change them at a later date. All 4 tyres from 'mytyres' on the net for £272 delivered! £8 per wheel for fit/balance at national tyres, I just made sure I was there watching them being fitted!! Thanks and any questions please ask.
Lee

Did you remember to stamp a chassis number in it before the powder coating?

Craig.

Hi Craggle, after seeing the article on IVA in complete kit car ( I think it was) were they put an AK through I made sure I pumped AK with all the IVA queries from the article. When I collected the car they stamped it whilstI was there collecting. I did email Linda and she did say they do it as a matter of course now. To be fair AK answered all my queries and nothing seemed to much trouble and believe me I know I am a pain the a**e when I am spending large sums of money! Cheers Lee

That's good, The last thing you need is removing the powder coat afterwards to please some DVLA inspector.

Have fun

Craig.

I know they did stamp it through the powder coat so whilst it was hot I used some enamel black on my finger and rubbed it into the groves then wiped off the excess to leave paint in the 'trough' to highlight the stamping, looks well enough hopefully to pass - unless they change the rules again in 12 months!!!
