Brake travel

The brakes on my AK stop well enough, but I have a load of travel before they bite, I have bled them numerous times, but without availe.

From what I've read on the forum, its a problem with the Marina set-up, has anyone managed to find a solution without altering all the pedal box. i.e. different brake master cylinder which is a direct swop.

Re: Brake travel

I am actually just working on a different solution than the stock Marina pedal box. I didn’t like the pedal ratio (my guess is that it is around 3.5:1). I also wanted to use parts more commonly found in Sweden (where I live) so I decided to build my own pedal box. I searched the net for best practice and came across this site (check under Brakes 1 and 2): http://www.donostia.demon.nl

Next stop the wreckage and I found both the Mitsubishi 1” master cylinder and Toyota Starlet servo in excellent condition (total price ~£15). The master cylinder fits the servo and the overall length from the torpedo wall to the tip of the master cylinder is 23-24 cm. The diameter of the servo is 16-17 cm.

I am making pedals with a pedal ratio of at least 6:1 (around 30 cm height with 4-5 cm between pivoting points). Pedals and rack turns out to be quite similar to the ones from Wilwood (measuring-wise). I am right now finalizing my drawings…

Sorry, I missed that you wanted to stay with the pedal box from the Marina...
