Hi
Been looking at trying to get a personel number plate for my cob with either the letters COB in it or my initials GL or GCL .Found a few which were ideal except the price i.e

GL 1 (250000)
GCL 1968 (180000)
V8 COB (75000)
COB3A (10000)

Bargain prices ?????????

Am I right in thinking that you can get a plate newer than the current reg i.e My reg is B (1985) so I can only get a plate before 1985 or before or a non year plate i.e ZZZ 111 like Irish plates
Regards
Gareth

Fancy giving me 250000 so I can buy GL1.
Nice plate for me but i don't think a second mortgage would go down well with the wife who HATES the cob anyway.

Gareth mate, think you might have one nought to many on those prices, or number plate prices have gone up since I last looked. :thumb::thumb:

P.S My wife also hates the Cob, spoils her hair. :D :D :thumb:

Im in the process of buying D20 BRA, with some imagination and illegal action the D Can be made to look like an out of shape C. A steal at 450, plus the holding of it on retention until its registered.

DVLA have a site, you can go on and look up plates etc and they give you the price there and then. Mind you I looked at AK54 NDY (AKS ANDY) initials etc and they wanted over a grand for that !!!!!

I saw V8 COB advertises a few weeks ago for 12,000 +vat etc.

I have registered Cobras with:-
AC 54 COB
AC 05 COB
V88 COB
V8 NOS
N20 COB
V8 HED

None of the above were more than 499 all in direct from the DVLA.

I don't know about things taking a while to get up north, that link took less that a second.
If the DVLA website had a tractor chassis and a hair dryer engine then it probably would take a while to get here.:whatever: (http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=4#)

It would have taken Ian Dury would have had problems seeing as he was much better at wobbling around in circles.

V8 BJC

V8 BJC cost me 399 a few years back. A guy stopped me in a garaage a while back and asked (virtually begged) me to sell it to him as he had the same initials. He said he would give me three grand - tempting !!!!

I bought X 8 MEG for my better half from DVLA about three years ago. Cost 650.00. Your right they have gone up in price. She took the car for a service a few months back, and the owner offered her 2000.00 for the plate. When she said no, he offered 2500.00. She again said it was not for sale. Bare it mind he told her, my wifes name is Meg. I am prepared to go higher. She still owns the plate and will not sell it. What some people are prepared to pay is nobodys business.

Instead of getting a reg plate to suit your name at a ridiculous cost, change your name by deed poll to that of your reg plate for only 49 at a solicitors :thumb:

just been browsing DVLA site and they have 21 pages of COB registration numbers all prefix type, E1 Cob is 1400, and thats the most expensive, there are loads at 250 from B*** Cob through to Y***cob, and quite a few with single numbers or how about L77 COB for 250.

I gave up on finding all things containing COB or V8 or DAX and settled on a 1964 (B) plate from Ebay, it cost me 80 plus 80 transfer fee. Better still all the hassle was done by the seller. :thumb:

As I have AREADY SAID kEV AT THE END OF THE DAY dvla AIN'T THAT CHEAP! Osgood:angel:

Eric.

If you are after a specific plate like the COB ones that AK Rich has listed and it is either available from the DVLA or one of the dealers then it will not be cheaper at the dealer than the DVLA. Does this not make the DVLA the cheapest place?
If you are talking about a plate that the DVLA do not have then how can you compare, If they aint' got it then how can they be more expensive/ cheaper.
If you don't believe me then do your homework, contact any of the dealers and price up the plates that AK Rich has listed. Don't forget to add VAT and transfer fee to their prices. (They are included when bought direct from the DVLA);)
