Anyone see the new Marcos/TVR Clone on Top Gear tonight? Richard Hammond was twitering on about how the new SBC powered Marcos was a brilliant combination of Yank Muscle in a Lightweight British sports Car. Familiar Story?

Missed the start, although SWMBO has it on Sky+ Series Link... :)

Bugatti Veyron vs. GD...?

Sorry, Andy, I think it would piss all over even the T70 (although I'd rather buy the T70 and keep the change... :D)

mmm and the new Marcos is so cramped inside even that famous pigmy Hammond complained; note Clarkson didnt even try to get his massive carcass inside it!!
Hey if you want a Yank V8 in an uncomplicated lightweight car that breaks down a lot, you need a kit car!!!!!

I forgot that bit, when the 'Hampster' mentioned how cramped it was I noticed he actually had his seat moved closer to the steering wheel!

Much nicer looking than any TVR will ever be and it had a decent engine in it.

Bit over priced though for what it was. Did he say about 60 grand.

Craig.

P.S. I hate TVR's

Just looked at their promotional video on the Marcos site - looks like a great car, very pretty.

What is it with sports car manufacturers and dodgy music? Anyone who has watched the GD "porn" build videos will understand :D :D

Talking of manufacturers videos, anyone seen the new Honda TV ad? The one where the baldy beardy medallion man guy sets off on a monkey bike, progressing through all sorts of Hondas, and ends up going over a waterfall on a speedboat; somehow coming out in a balloon; brilliant; must have cost a shocking fortune!!!

Anyone notice a passing similarity between the Daytona Coupe, (ie the new Shelby Concept posted on here recently) and the new Marcos ?

The marcos looks nice, but it just shows coming up with something new is not easy..

Wow they are very similar, as were the jag and aston martin a few years back.
Probably all working with similar suspension, drive train and cd/performance criteria, all using the same cad suite, and all wishing they could design something with a classic shape.
You've got to feel a bit sorry for automotive design departments really, they come up with something absolutely brilliant, gorgeous and iconic (like the 916 Ducati, or the E type jag) and they then get crucified by the public when they can't better it, and follow it with an emporers new clothes design; like the pig ugly unfinished looking Ducati 999, or the 'only fit to be a donor car' Jag XJS..IMHO!!

I'm glad someone else thinks the 999 is poo

I remember seeing an early 999 publicity shot (if you see a friend buying one dial 999...) and thought that it was a prototype, what a dogs breakfast.
Ducati are apparently deep in the brown sticky stuff due to poor 749/999 sales worlwide; and Texas Pacific are supposed to be selling their share. Trade rumour is Ducati are searching for a rescuer; quite a change from the heady cash rich days of the 916/996/998 era.
Late edition 998's fetch quite a bit more money used than early 999's which proves it!
Undoubtedly a 999 is probably a better wsb base bike, but why they didnt do a Porsche 911 and subtly update the 916 style is beyond me!
The only people who say 999's look nice are the bike journos, but then so would if Id been on a lavish launch, with track time, good nosh, fine wine and had a bevvy of dolly birds in my room each night...
Err sorry guys off topic again, many apologies
