Guys, no pictures for a while, it is a bit too painful at the mo. Will post up what happened later, just trying to sort out all the recovery and insurance etc.

I have no laptop as it was run over by a truck, so emails and stuff will NOT get answered until I can get a replacement and transfer all my data over.

My mobile also disappeared somewhere, so if anyone has been trying to call me, thats why its not been answered.

Everything is in a bit of a pickle at the moment, will get sorted soon though.

dave

No!
Robin.
Testament to what?
I believe that Rob had some sort of collision and then had his car run over by a number of lorries.....You muppet.

Robin427
14-02-06, 07:04 PM
Testament to the fact that despite the collision, he wasn't too badly injured. The lorries thing is separate. I don't know what speeds were involved, but assuming motorway speeds, surviving any sort of crash is not assured. I'm not trying to say that GD is better than any other kit, just that in this incident, it protected Rob sufficiently so he was able to get away before the lorries hit.

Purple AK
14-02-06, 07:13 PM
None of us know the circumstances, or the speeds involved, or anything else for that matter. So it is wrong to Assume anything.

wilf
14-02-06, 07:40 PM
Robin - I am speechless.

Well not really.

Despite the fact that you know nothing about the accident, you decide that the fact that Rob survived is somehow a testament to the car.

Sorry - you deserve everything that is coming to you. Muppet does not even begin to sum it up. (Wilf self-censors his next remark here).

Please do try to regain some sense of proportion here. Rob had a massive accident, got away with his life and little else. Let's be thankful for that and leave the GD-worship out of it eh?

For the record - I have seen the remnants of a Sumo that was involved in a massive shunt, and the driver of that walked away too. I was pretty impressed by the way that chassis protected it's driver, and yet I would lay many £££s on your "dissing" such cars.

It would be really nice, bearing in mind the subject matter of this thread, if you, for once, climbed down from your altar and said "Ok Guys, you got me there, I'll let that one pass".

We are waiting.

Cool your boots guys ! Take a chill pill and remember there's no harm in being proud of your manufacturer, after all you have shed out your hard earned pennies for the said product. There is gd vs dax banter and its all in good fun. If it wasn't what 'muppets' we would really be !!

Rob,

Glad you made it out in time. Hope you're OK, albeit minus some toys.......and toys can always be replaced in some form or other.

Considering the extent of the damage, it's good to see how well the integrity of the passenger compartment was retained. Bit of an extreme way to test it though.

Good luck with all the paper work this is bound to generate.

Nothing to giggle about there Rob. Like everyone else is, I'm just glad no one was hurt.

Is the car going to be recovered to the UK? As bad as it looks you must be able to build another car using some of the usable parts. Unless it is too heartbreaking to see it again.

I'll agree wholeheartedly with Alan - really glad you're both still in one piece.
I was really upset when Linda had her crunch in mine, through no fault of her own, and although it was rebuilt, it's not the same... and we try to say that it's only a toy, but really it's more like a pet, and the loss of a favourite pet can be devastating.

Good luck in your search for a replacement.
