Hi Simon
Best get in touch with Purple AK, he normally organises this event.
If not, get yourself to Detling. More cobs there than anywhere else in the country 'bar' Stoneliegh.

Sorry Dave/Simon. I organise the "Third Wednesday SE South Coast Newmarket Meet"
Simon. AFAIK The Maidstone Second Wednesday Meet was organised by Gareth, But I believe (and I could be wrong) It has died a death.

10-05-11, 08:41 AM
LOL
so excited about getting my car back today, I mistakenly cocked it all up as usual.
Sorry guy's got the wrong meet in my head.

Yes I believe the Maidstone meet is now a bit dormant, shall we say. Hopefully we'll try and resurect it in the summer evenings. I haven't spoken to Gareth or any of the normal attendees for a bit, so all I can say is watch this space, I'm sure some of them get on here.

Detling has to be a better bet Simon. Not only will there be more cars/owners there, but Den will also be around to answer any questions as well. See you there ;)

Hi all,
Just a reminder that this weekend is the normal monthly Grasshopper get together. Apologies to all but I am on a drive-it day run so will probably not be finished in time to get back to the Grasshopper.

This year (while the weather is good) I am going to try to start organising a run on our regular monthly meets. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for suitable locations. I will try to vary it each month but will keep the Grasshopper as either the starting or ending location so the regular meet can still continue as normal.

I'll see you all at Stoneleigh ;)

Work have finally relented so I'll be able to get along as normal ;)

If anyone is interested I will be heading to http://www.riverviewcafe.co.uk @ 11:00 for a coffee and a sarnie before taking the trip to the Grasshopper. The route from the Café to the Grasshopper is a good run through the back roads to make the most of some hopefully decent weather!

Weather is absolutely glorious. See you guys at the Riverview Cafe at about 11:00 then. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go on to Westerham as family commitments are getting in the way - same old story for most of us - but at least I'm going to do the pre-meet breakfast/brunch .

kenf
28-04-13, 12:51 PM
Just got back from the Riverview and can thoroughly recommend it as a great venue; good grub and friendly chat from the owner, Pete. Met up with Simon (from Maidstone) and Stevey M so 3 cobs in all, with loads of admirers gathering around. I suspect 2nd Sunday of the month will be quite good as it's open to all marques of cars (around about 100 can be expected I understand). I'll certainly give it a go. Hope you guys have a good meet at Westerham and perhaps catch you next time.

steveym
28-04-13, 05:50 PM

28-04-13, 09:37 PM
Yeah, good to get out in some good weather for a change.

Sorry to hear about the fuel pump Steve- is it capoot or just a bad connection? At least you were close to home, as I'm not sure I would have liked towing you!

I'd highly recommend the breakfast bap at Riverview- well worth the 30 mile run from Maidstone to Forest Row.

hope to see you all again soon, Simon

steveym
29-04-13, 02:04 PM
Yup was good to see you all and good to see some half decent weather...

Seems like the motor went in the electric pump as I am sure it isn't meant to smell/feel quite that damn hot! and then popped the fuse, so replacement needed I think.

At least it was near enough so the missus didn't have too far to push me! :-)

Hi All,

What am amazing turn around in the weather? The sun is out, the tops down on Lola and she is keen to play. I am about 30min drive from Westerham so I am going to leave it until about 11.30am to make a final decision but hopefully some of the more adventurous of you will already have made the decision to venture out?

If anyone is passing over the QE2 bridge (Andy-Turbycat) I am a convenient stop off and safe haven (Sutton-at-Hone) if the weather plays up again and you need a bolt hole.

An amusing thread posted by PaulB - Forums - Cockpit- Ban the person above you, is worth a visit and add you ban to the person before!!!
Ban the person above you ..... (http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/cockpit/50215-ban-person-above-you.html)

What a fantastic turnout for the Grasshopper meet today? I lost count at the number of Cobras that attended after (3). As this was my first turnout I was please to meets Steve and Maggie and (Juliette - Sumo) and Julian from Sutton in Surrey in his Sumo.

The weather was good to us until about 1.30pm when black clouds loomed on the horizon and we bid our farewells. I was chased all the way home by the rain and it was probably only the fact that I was doing 80mph open topped around the M25 that the wind over the windscreen provided shelter. Arrived home to sunny Dartford followed quickly by a down pour.

Was I lucky or was I lucky?

Have a look at my "Vipers Nest" article in Cockpit and let me have your comment and support.

Star Kicker
29-10-13, 09:09 PM
I stand corrected by Steve, it was Neville from Cheam but I did get the car right, he was driving his Sumo. No John Parrot though - probably playing snooker.

It would be nice to meet up again even if its in our tin tops to keep the momentum going and perhaps more will attend.

Had a lovely tour out today around Sevenoaks and stopped off at Knole Park for a Hot Chocolate. Weather looks good for Sunday, so who has still not packed the Cob away for the winter and up for a jaunt.

There is also a meet at Davids house (LUX427) on Saturday 30th November in Wittersham.

Sunday 28th September is the next potential Grasshopper meeting date, so weather permitting perhaps this could be a good time to try and meet up and discuss revitalisation of the SE Region.

Hi Andy
The meet is from midday, if the weather is good, most people will still be around for an hour or so, if it's rotten then people don't generally hang about for too long. Having said that, if it's really nice, then it's off for a drive.
Midday to halfpast is a good time.

Thanks for that Dave. Looks like the weather is better for my flying tomorrow so Sunday will be a Cobra day:p.

9 Cobra's today and the sun was shining.

Shame my exhaust nearly feel off half a mile down the BUMPY road on the way home.......still, I removed the side pipe and drove home.....it was a bit noisy and Clare was worried that the heat might burn the paintwork but no harm done.

We got some funny looks on the M25 as drivers noticed that we had no exhaust!
I just ordered some stainless steel pop rivets from screwfix online as Clare is refusing to ride in the Cobra until I 'fix it properly'.

It did sound awesome without the pipe thou

Busy weekend in the Cobra, Chelsea Cruise Saturday night, wasn't a great turnout but the drive through London with my Son Jordan was worth it alone, Then on Sunday, nice to see so many at the grasshopper, sorry to hear about your exhaust Sumoboy, did make me chuckle thinking of Clare clutching the side pipe as you hurtled home. hope to see some of you at the Medway Cruise on Thursday.

Royce, are you going to do an article for the club magazine about either the chelsea cruise, grasshopper meet or medway??

Royce
30-09-14, 07:58 AM
not sure if any single one would have enough substance to warrant an article, may be an "out and about in the South East" or " A year in the Cobra" may be worth putting together? have to put my thinking cap on and then of course dedicate some time to it;). May be I'll speak to Star kicker, my main partner in crimes and see if we can do something between us.

Hi Guys,

I have not visited the Grasshopper this year so far as the car has been off the road. But looking at the diary the 4th Sunday is 24th May.

It would be great to meet up, so lets see who is available.

As many of you may also know, Brands Hatch has organised their American Speediest event (6/7th June) and there is free entry if you send them your details (see forum event notice) Now last year this was a great event and to date we have 21 Cobras signed up.

I have a meeting late morning so I do not think this will finish in time to enable me to attend.

The first Sunday in the month is the SECCK meeting at The Halfway House A127 (Essex). I might try and make this, always a good mix of cars and a nice drive out.

Sorry to all you guy's in the cold car park, saw an opportunity for a roast dinner and took it. Wasn't meant to be anti-sociable, but Yorkshire's roast tat's and a heap of meat and gravy was in my sights. if we didn't sit down immediately, we would have had a long wait.
Still great to see everyone.
Steve, I thought you was coming to my house for a minute.

Hi Happie,

I have just taken Lola out for her first run of 2017 and I am pleased to say, she started on the button first time and so enjoyed a nice blast around to blow the cob webs away.

Weather permitting I intend to attend on Sunday 8th and have messaged a few guys in the Kent area to see who is coming out of hibernation.
