I've read recent threads with interest, but my problem is slightly different: SD1 3500S with a high-torque Piper cam and rejetted SUs on std inlets. Problem is I'm continually getting coolant blown out of the remote header - so much I've put a catch bottle on to keep the anti-freeze contained. I cleared a blockage on the pipe between the carbs (highest point), I've bled the system and checked the stat operation with a thermometer in a saucepan - all seems ok. I just have a suspicion that the header tank might be mounted too high? (High as poss on inner wing). Ideas guys 'n' gals?

Does it continuously blow out coolant, or is it just trying to find the "correct" level as the coolant expands as the engine warms through?

In other words - if you didn't top it up, would it eventually run out of coolant?

Just possible it needs a lower coolant level.

Within reason I suspect "too high" does not exist.
