Can anyone explain to me why my 2005 Seat Leon with a 1.8 Turbo cost me 205 last month for a tax disc but my reminder for the Sumo (2005 3.5 RV8 ) says 180.

Surely the Sumo on carbs has a bigger capacity and worse emissions than the injected, lamda'd Leon??

Doesn't make sense to me so can someone explain?

Because your Rover engine hasn't got cats fitted and therefore can't be banded for CO2 emissions and is taxed on engine size. ;) :D :D

Cars registered before 1 March 2001 are based on engine size, even though mine was registered in 2002, the engine was SVA tested as a 1976.

Enjoy it while you can - Wednesday will bring further taxation to us all (and don't forget that anyone earning under 18.5k will pay more tax from April anyway........)
