Looking around for a good tent for the upcoming events, Stoneleigh, Le Mans etc. Everything I've been in before has been poor to say the least (what do you expect for under 50 ). Need one to accommodate 2 comfortably, this one came out top in the Gadget Show last week, Kyham Igloo, partly self erecting (see product video)

http://www.khyam.co.uk/product_tent.asp?category=Khyam%20QE&type=Autotouring/Festival (http://www.tayna.co.uk/catalog/114/0/Optima-Batteries-Optima-Red-Top-Batteries-page1.html)

Do you guys in the know reckon this will be big/good enough, can get it most places for about 139.

What else do you all recommend getting (apart from a crate of beer), have sleeping bags already.

Many thanks in advance

I bought two of these - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/1-second-simple-22084203/ (http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/1-second-simple-34693170/)

Not big tents but they take literally 2 seconds to put up and fit snugly behind the seats in the AK. 20 each and have good wind and water resistance.

Never thought of going for individual tents, thanks for the idea Kev, have a Decathalon quite near too.

I've got a Khyam Freelander, excellent tent and easy to erect, try these guys, they have a 2007 Kyham Igloo for 119.99 and don't forget the ground sheet, mine was extra.

Tent, Camping Trailer Tents, Folding Campers, Vango Tents and Camping Equipment Sales (http://www.camperlands.co.uk/)

P.S I like the Freelander because of the extra height, you can stand up in it, well I can.

Packs down to virtually the same size too :D

Ive had a kyham igloo style tent for about 8/9 years. After being used a dozen times a year in all sorts of heavy weather it is just now starting to get a little tired...

a bloody good tent for the money, it does erect in a couple of minutes, and does stay completely dry and weatherproof.

You really do have to crouch to get in though, they are not very tall at the door,

I also have a highlander, much bigger (and therefore heavier), but I wouldnt want to be in it in any weather, its more of a summer tent really

Thanks for all the comments so far, much appreciated. Although the Argos one, and especially Plod's, looks good the Kyhams are winning at the moment.

Keep the views coming :D

You might laugh but in fact Crendonmans boy turned up in his Pug 106???

I never saw it go up and gof knows where he got it from, but fromthe boot, was a structure that you could park 3/4 cars in and still have room for 20 people and a bbq as I think this is what they had going when it rained. Might be a little exaggeration but not much.

I thought the circus arrived, then I realised it was SW lot..

I'm sure youwill find one but there will be room at the inn (tents), particularly LM, if you dont find something suitable

Hey Noel Seb here, great to meet you last weekend. Good advice to boot. Re tents I recommend the decathlon ones, I purchased one to do the Plymouth to Dakar challenge last year. Bloody marvelous. 2 person one is a little small for two. However they sell a 3 person version. Once you used one of these you'll never go back to all those poles and painful set up procedures. These pop up in seconds. Even when drunk in the Sahara desert.

A down side is they pack down to quite a large disk shape, all be it thin! Probably not Cobra boot friendly.

Hope that helps

Seb

How about one of these. No messing with it in bad weather and some can be modded to allow for your Cob to be stowed under the floor via the side lockers.:D

I took the small one to le mans last classic, but I also took Lucy. So this classic I got me one of these and if it all gets too wet I can park inside the tent. First ever erection of the big one took 20mins including tieing all the guy ropes on. So hopefully it shouldn't take long in real action. I have to agree with Lucy that it's a whole different ball game being able to get dressed and stand up.

I think the three hooped 'nissan hut' shaped ones offer really good covered space to packed down space ratio.
They take a bit more time to pitch well but seem to stand up to the weather well.

I've got the Igloo and it's lasted as it did in the show - torrential downpours, flooding and a multitude of other weather fronts put at it. A doodle to put up.

Sleeps two easily. Even got a little covered space at the front to leave your muddy boots so they don't have to come into the tent.

It currently lives under the back seat in the Landy as a just in case tent. Having said that I've got a roof tent on the Landy. Can't you fit one of those to the Cobra ? :)

Noel,

Further to my last post, if its ease of putting up out of my 3 tents this one takes the biscuit. pictured on my truck. Even the wife will travel in this one.

Very comfortable almost a full size double mattress, pops up in minutes (not seconds like other one) You never get wet or cold. All your bedding folds up ready to go.
