View Full Version : Road tax question
My tax is up for renewal at the end of the month and was just wondering if it would be advantagious getting 12 instead of 6 months?
The simple reason being I don't know how much the tax will cost once the emission rates take place not long from now, for the engine I have.
Does anyone have an idea?
Hi Stu,
It would help if we knew what you were paying at the moment and what year your engine/car is.
Hi Clive, the car was registered on a 1990 plate after sva last year, and the engine was from an 1985 sd1.
The current premuim is 101.75 and 185.00, 6 & 12 months

Stu. As there is "No Manufacture Supplied Emissions Data" available you should remain in the Pre 2001 Band based on engine size. IE above 1549cc = £190 pa in 2009.
Pre-Budget Report 2008 - Monday 24 November : Directgov - Motoring (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_172916)
Here you go.
Kit cars don't fall into the band system like production cars due to there being no "M1" emissions type aproval figures for them.
Engine size (cc)
Over 1549cc
Current rate £185
2009-2010 £190
2010-2011 £205
