What do people generally think of these.I'm thinking of buying the first 15 issues but didn't want just a load of adverts and no cobra content as such.Just wanted an honest opinion from those who may have them.
thanks

Don't buy them from Den, put a wanted ad here, someone will already have what you want.

I only got 3 or 4, and there were some good articles, but also a lot of "baggage".

Depends on how long you've been reading kit-car mags for, if you've only just started they it's a good way of getting a load of past articles in one easy binder - otherwise the're mostly re-prints

Hi Jim,
I make no bones about the fact that all the articles in Cobra are reprinted from Kit car. That’s always been stated in the advertising.

Hi Lloyd,
You'll be pleased to know that the 'argument' finished 2 years ago.

Den,
Thanks for that list, but i can,t really see the point of having other makes in a magazine dedicated to the cobra. This isn,t a meant as a moan, just my opinion.i appreciate you have more than your fair share of workload, what with Pilgrim again and i wish you well with both.

I for one thought they were great.
i dont get kit car mags as i am only interested in a cobra cars and generally not interested in locosts, or other makes of kits, builds or parts so find buying theses mags for an article or two a bit expensive
the Cobra magazine gives great advice and technical support plus is great for referancing material, Nigel deans articles are particularly helpful and have given loads of great ideas to use in my own build, and i know people moan about loads of adverts but they are mostly cobra specific so you only need to look in the mag if your after a part

Well, I just bought them all, got them all, and I am glad I did.

Magazines are like newspapers: if only those people who read EVERYTHING and agree with EVERYTHING written, there would be very few newspapers sold...

I am a novice in the field of kitcars (just bought my sumo kit) , I for sure feel that the magazines help me to get as much information as possible in the shortest amount of time. If in every issue there is one thing I learn, and that for say 6 pound, than that is cheap learning. The fact is that I learned much more than that.

The ads don't bother me any more than in any other magazine, they actually help me to find sources for stuff I would otherwise have a hard time locating.

I can understand that for people who have years experience with repairing and building cars, the story may be different, but I can not judge that.

My two cents...

i understand where your coming from but I would be a bit p**sed off if things were repeated time and time again. Most of the magazines seem to do this just to fill pages.I,m just a grumpy old git i suppose!!!!

Yep, Nigel's articles were very useful. I used the one about how to make the door latches work in my build and it seemed to work a treat.

Hi Claude,
You’ve precisely grasped both the benefit and the purpose of Cobra magazine.

Glad you enjoy it!

……. I would be a bit p**sed off if things were repeated time and time again…. !

The stuff in Cobra is repeated from Kit Car, but not 'time and time again'.

The set of Cobra magazines contains all the articles listed in one of my previous posts and (save for one or two rare incidents) you'd have just one copy of each article.

That’s not exactly ture GASAXE – is it? The last 3 regular issues of Kit Car have each contained 60+ pages of brand spanking new material.

Den,

You hit the nail on the head with the purpose of Cobra magazine, as it is exactly for those people that want to read all about Cobra's in one magazine. Had your magazine been out when I built my first Cobra, I would have bought it instead of having to check that the Kitcar mags had enough relevant Cobra information to make the purchase worth while.

Whilst this forum is a great site to learn about this marque, you still can't beat sitting down with a cuppa and going through a magazine that's as dedicated to the same subject as you are. In summary: A good magazine, which has probably helped hundreds to be inspired and choose the right kit and parts.

Jim, I thought that other makes such as GT40's were relevant, as they were part of the same stable as the Cobra. Not only did they all share a large V8 engine, but to me they had nothing to do with the Lotus 7 style or other non V8 kit's which I had absolutely no interest in.

I always used to check through the kit mags in WH Smith, to see what the proprtion of non Cobra / GT40 material was. If there was only one small article on cob's, then I would try and sneak a read there and then. The opposite was true, in that if it was loaded with juicy articles which revolved around a GT40 or Cobra, then I would buy the mag to read later.

I have found kit owners generally fall into either the 7 inspired or the Cobra / GT40 type of kit and a magazine like Cobra would have been perfect for my requirements. In addition, the adverts should be dedicated towards this type of vehicle, making your search all the easier.

I agree with the GT40 but don,t with Rush,Seven locust etc.I think they should probably stay in Kit car magazine.Rest assured i love to read anything related to the cob and gt40 marques, just not reprinted material to often.
As for Den's magazine perhaps i'm being hasty but i didn't want to spend £60.00 on magazines if alot of it was reprinted stuff that i may have read in Kit car etc!
