View Full Version : what is this sender unit (rover SD1)

its on a rover sd1 engine 1982. drivers side of the block under the manifold near where the oil filter was originally placed , if any one can help with the size of thread or can it be used for the oil temp i would be most greatful :p

From what I can see it is the oil pressure switch..... edit! don't know the thread etc

Yeah, Think that is the oil pressure switch.

I don't think it would work for temperature as there won't be enough room in there for the temp sender and you may pick up the block temperature rather than the oil temp.

Best place for oil temp would be in the line between the block and a remote filter or screwed in the side of the sump itself.

Its the unused oil pressure switch (just plugging the hole up). Oil pressure switch and analogue signals are from the canister type unit at the filter housing.

Hi Stan,

What threads were on the ends of the stainless steel braided hoses you had made for the Oil cooler see pictures as i may well get an adapter made to fit inline for the oil temperature sender
