Hi all
Just starting a Classic Replicas build ,setting out the chassis, but have read that there is a need for some major re fitment of the steel panel work,to fit a 350 small block Chevy in.
Is this true or not ? any help would be good.
I have also tried to get some dampers and springs for the Jag running gear, but came backwith different answers from two supply's. Any help here would be great as I can get this chassis rolling in and out to do the chassis mods if needed.
Picked up a escort mark 5 steering rack today so just need some rubber bushes to fit.
I have no build manual so having to pick up bits from the site along the way, have spent many hours trying to collect info ,so here we go
Regards Rob

Well Dave I got it,thanks for the offer.
Just starting to go through it should not take long by the look of it ,not much info, pictures are poor but never mind. Will set chassis up dry the weekend to work out the shocks I need, any sizes would be of help for springs etc.Did you have to make any adjustments to the foot wells to get your engine inplace, I have been sizing the engine bay up tonight and there is not much room if any for the 350 SB.Thats if I have sited it in the right place. There is little mention of how the steering rack is mounted to the chassis, it dose mention cortina bushes, but again very vague.
regards Rob

I havent had any problems fitting my engine (rover 4.6) but ive just had stainless manifolds made up to join up the sidepipes and its extremely tight, so i would say that you should modify the footwells first, especially the drivers side, as you have the steering column to contend with.(the other side isnt too bad) this will save a lot of pissing about later on. Ive read many a thread on other peoples mishaps when building the classic replica viper kit.
My advice would be to contact as many other owners as possible, pool all the downfalls so your build is as smooth as possible!

Front end going together, and guess what the size shocks I had been told that suited the classic and the Ak will not work properly, not enough free movement. Build manual arrived all ok, but must admit a bit short on information. Will be on rear axle next then hoping to lift engine in place, then we will see what cutting needs to be done. I wonder if there is a directory of owner, much like we have for the NSRA members, as I have been told there is a Cobra in the next village some 3 miles away. May be a bit of cold calling is asked for.
